Located at the Pyeontaek Digital Park, a prime industrial complex in the Seoul metropolitan area, LG Electronics’ Digital Media Company comprises data storage, audio & video, and personal computer divisions, and has a workforce of some 4,500 people. The Digital Media Company controls four overseas subsidiaries: LGEHZ (Huizhou), LGESH (Shanghai), and LGEKS (Keun Shan) in China, and LGEDI (Jakarta) in Indonesia.
The Digital Media Company’s global leadership in the 21st-century “digital convergence” product market prompted the prestigious U.S. economic magazine Business Week to feature LG Electronics as one of the world’s best IT corporations.

Optical Storage Devices
LG Electronics became the world’s No. 1 producer of CD-ROMs in 1997, CD-RWs in 1998, DVD-ROMs in 2000, combined CD-DVDs in 2002, and DVD-Ws in 2004, effectively dominating the optical storage market for seven years in a row.
Home Theater Systems
In the continually expanding market for home theater systems, LG Electronics offers consumers the finest sound quality by utilizing its own stereo sound technology, “XTS (eXcellent True Sound).” To maintain its leadership of the home theater system market, LG Electronics is continually developing combined-feature home theater products with various unique functions and designs.
Notebook PCs

2004 Performance
Due to the market withdrawal of its PC OEM in 2004, the Digital Media Company posted sales of 3.803 trillion won, a decrease of 7% from the previous year. Optical storage sales have continued to hold the No. 1 spot in the world for seven consecutive years. DVD players and home theater systems also seized the No. 1 position in the world in 2004.
